Security warnings of the "dangers" of using Internet TV

A company specializing in Internet security has confirmed that Internet-connected TVs can be easily hacked.

"Many companies have launched these devices without bothering to make sure they are safe against penetration," said Adrian Turner, CEO of Mocana.

He added that the study conducted by the company shows the seriousness of the device first connect to the Internet and then concern when penetrating. He called on electronics companies to pay more attention to internal security expertise before launching devices to markets.

He said one of the devices tested by a company found that the TV's Internet interface failed to confirm the integrity of the text before its operating system introduced the scripts through many gaps. As a result, the company believes that this makes users vulnerable to attacks through which it can provide Fake credit cards in order to deceive consumers and obtain their own data and direct them to bank fraud sites.

Internet TV has recently become a vital product for many television manufacturers, with almost all brands attending the Consumer Electronics Show to showcase models of TVs with Internet access.

Recent reports indicate that 40 million Internet TV devices have been sold in 2010 and that by 2014 this figure will increase to 118 million. The company advises users to be cautious when connecting these devices to the Internet and avoid using confidential financial details.
